At your request, I can use LOW VOC Paints on your project- Better for your health, better for the EARTH.
The PROS: I have found that the odor of these "GREEN" paints is very low, and my clients have never complained. These are great if you have concerns about allergies, or if paint odor is offensive to you or a family member. The sheen and finish of these new "GREEN" paints is indistinguishable from traditional paints.
The CONS: These paints are $5 to $10 more per gallon, and I have noticed that the coverage is not as good. That means that it takes one more coat sometimes to get the sheen to look right.

WALLPAPER REMOVAL
I have found that steaming off wallpaper works much better than chemicals, and you don't have to worry about the chemicals in the wallpaper remover paste reacting with the new paint. Have you ever seen cracks in a new paint job that was done over walls that had wallpaper? The cracks form when the paint adversely reacts with the latex paint.
Below is a photo of the steamer in use. It is the tool of choice, when it comes to stubborn wallpaper.
In some cases, even with the steamer, the walls beneath the wallpaper may get damaged while the paper is being removed. That always occurs if the walls were not properly prepared during the initial paper installation. Improperly installed wallpaper actually pulls the paper off the gypsum boards of the walls as it is removed. In cases like that, I can repair the walls with joint compound, and either sand them smoothly, or apply a new texture coat. Textures include orange peel, knock-down, or hard coat/skip trowel. The choice of a texture is usually determined by the walls in the adjacent rooms.
